Instill values in your children

After some reflecting and thoughtful consideration I decided to minimize the amount of expensive gifts I give to my daughter. She's my only child and I work hard so that she doesn't want for anything but I realized that me not having certain things when I was younger, wanting those things and having to work harder to obtain and achieve those things helped shape me as a person. Some children and teens are so lazy nowadays. Always wanting something handed to them or trying to find an easy way around an obstacle instead of just tackling it head on. I realized that having every new DS, tablet, cell phone or iPod really does nothing for an 8 year old but give them the false belief that everything in this world comes easy. This is not to say that my daughter won't get SOME of the things that she wants and all of the things that she needs but I'll give her something better. Better meaning unbreakable, non perishable, won't be outdated and will never need a new version. I'll give her more morals and less video games, more heart to hearts and less tv time, more lessons on how little girls and young ladies should carry themselves so she'll always know what's acceptable and what's not. Know how to conduct herself when I'm not around and how to always be a leader and never follow behind anyone and that gift is worth more than anything you can buy in a store
